Mechanics &
Conventions are rules to follow to keep communication clear in
your essay. Without rules the reader would not be able to understand
your writing.
The
six ingredients to Mechanics & Conventions are:
- Grammar and Usage
- Punctuation
- Spelling
- Paragraphing
- Word Order
Writer's
Terms
Grammar: The study of
how words and their component parts combine to form sentences.
Punctuation: The use of standard marks and
signs in writing and printing to separate words into sentences,
clauses, and phrases in order to clarify meaning.
Spelling: The forming of words with letters
in an accepted and familiar order.
